Tour Route

Castle Butte, Big Beaver Nature Centre, Aust’s General Store, Burgess Ranch, North West Mounted Police Post, Heritage School House, Sam Kelly Outlaw Caves, Ceremonial Circle, Turtle and Buffalo Effigies

N.B - Site access is very dependant on the weather. Due to the duration and distance covered there is no guarantee that all sites on the tour will be accessible. While we do endeavour to cover all the stops as listed, an enjoyable trip and your safe return are paramount.

These tours take place during the warmest time of the year. Plenty of water, sunscreen a hat and bug spray are strongly recommended. Good shoes are also required as we do some walking and Castle Butte is a popular climb. The weather can vary drastically throughout the day so a jacket would be a good idea as well.

For long tours please bring lunch as we usually eat lunch at the Burgess Ranch while we hear the story of the Badlands Outlaws. Water, snacks and food are available at Aust’s General Store in Big Beaver but no sandwiches or lunches.

Don’t forget extra film or memory cards for your camera although film is available in Big Beaver.

N.B We do not provide maps or self guided tours as most stops are on private land, in some cases behind locked gates. Please do not litter, pick flowers. collect souvineers or alter the landscape or sites.
